Sometimes, you just don't want to cook and now you won't have to!  We've teamed up with Chef Nadia, chef/owner of Mucho Gusto Catering, to offer our guests the option of having pre-made gourmet meals waiting in your Guest House!  

Fresh, healthy and delicious, Chef Nadia prepares everything from scratch.  From vegan to solid carnivore, pasta lover to gluten-free, Chef Nadia can cater to your special dietary needs. We are treated to her gourmet meals during our experiential programs and now you can too!  

Do you have a something to celebrate?  We can also host a private, fine dining experience in our restored General Store!

Interested in what's new and happening at the Cassiar Cannery ?

If you wanted to take the train here, this is an example of the fabulous food you could indulge in Thursday evening until lunch

on the train Sunday!   The menu can be expanded upon, modified and is adjustable for any length of stay or mode of transportation!

INCLUSIONS

  • Ground coffee, tea selection, sugar, milk
  • 500 mL housemade granola with 500mL of yogurt. Choose between:
    • natural
    • lemon
    • maple
    • coconut
  • 1 litre fresh seasonal fruit salad
  • 1 fresh loaf of homemade bread (white or multigrain) with seasonal jam, butter and nut butter
  • 1 x 6 inch quiche.  Choose between:
    • smoked salmon
    • spinach and feta
    • mushroom, artichoke and goat cheese
    • broccoli and cheddar

SELECTIONS

Select one breakfast pastry. Choose between:

  • blueberry lemon scones (4)
  • ham and cheese scones (4) 

  • banana bread with walnuts (1 loaf)
  • apple turnovers (4) 



Choose two of the following lunches:

  • mediterranean pasta salad with chicken kebobs
  • hearty vegetarian or meat chili with cheese buns 

  • house burgers with potato salad and fixings

  • veggie mushroom burgers with potato salad and fixings
  • make your own sandwich kit with hearty vegetable soup 

  • steak fajita salad

  • smoked salmon snack platter with crackers 


Choose two of the following salads to accompany dinner (1 litre each):

  • green salad with Italian vinaigrette
  • classic caesar salad
  • beet and hazelnut tabouleh salad
  • three bean salad 


Choose two dinner options:

  • pulled pork and black bean enchiladas

  • seafood canneloni in creamy bechamel
  • spinach and ricotta canneloni in tomato sauce
  • classic shepherd's pie

  • classic lasagna

  • vegetarian lasagna

Choose one dessert:

  • apple crumble
  • lemon blueberry pie
  • chocolate hazelnut tart
  • homemade vanilla ice cream selection of cookies

SELECTIONS

Disembarking from the train you will have your choice of soup or a cheese, meat and cracker tray.  And for the the trip home, a lovely snack-style lunch including:

  • maple glazed nut mix granola bar
  • veggie stick snack with dip

  • Fresh BC apple
  • Hand pies - choose between:
    • chicken
    • vegetarian
    • sausage

The Venue

You are surrounded by history and the ocean in the restored General Store.  It is a stunning unique space with room for up to 50 people for a sit-down meal.

These menus are designed to be a shared plate experience served family style. The menu is eight courses so it is varied and interesting but each course will be a tasting experience. Slower meal style with courses coming out one at a time.

  • Caramelized onion soup, fried cheese toast (can be vegetarian or made with roasted duck stock)

  • Cured local salmon tartare, celery root and apple salad, baguette

  • Butternut squash gnocchi, roast walnut cream, gremolata, lemon olive oil

  • Pan seared ling cod, pickled local matsutake, charred lacinato kale, maple ginger braised pork belly

  • Roasted fennel and barley risotto, butter poached local scallops

  • Seared duck breast, duck confit croquette with hazelnuts, blueberry balsamic reduction, grilled radicchio, roasted garlic potato puree

  • Apple beignets, caramel

  • Cheese plate, coronation grapes, quinoa crackers
